Welcome

Welcome and thanks were given to Rose & Rob for hosting the meeting once again.

 1. Admin

Safeguarding training – GW checked all attendees have completed the online safeguarding training held in September. All confirmed they have however JB, RW, KC, HW & CM did not receive the email from the school.

Action Point – Noted members to check with the school office that they are noted as having received the training and request the email be resent if necessary.

DBS – All members now have a DBS except HW due to pending documents pending. The school advise they should be in receipt shortly.

Lego Club – we need a minimum of 3 persons each week to enable Lego Club to continue. Current volunteers are GW, NT, FS, RW & Hannah Tabram

Paediatric Fist aid training – look in to see if this is something we (The Friends) as volunteers can do to enable reception class to attend afterschool clubs

2. Wreath Workshops

A total of £1,124 net profit was made from the wreaths over the 2 nights.

Both nights were sell-outs and the feedback received from the participants was extremely positive. Laura Martin was very pleased with the set up and the greenery provided as were the participants.

There are left over decorations ready for next year (ribbons/baubles/berries) and the oranges and cinnamon have been vac packed to preserve. This will reduce outgoings for 2023 workshop to make larger profit.

Action Point for next workshop – borrow or hire higher tables as the school ones were too low. Remove the stage possibly to fir more people in the hall.

3. February Fun Run

Set all children in the school a challenge to walk/jog/run 1km a day to raise money for The Friends.

Sponsorship to be donated via a JustGiving group page.

Action Point – CH to look in to Gift Aid registration and options

Action Point – CS to setup JustGiving page

Children to be provided with a sheet with a horse on divided in to 28 sections to cover every day I February. They then colour in a section once they have completed their 1km a day.

Action Point – Handout sheets to be devised ready to be handed out to pupils. Sheet will be handed out Friday 27th

Action Point – Posters to be made and displayed and advertised on socials and website.

Action Point – Wall chart to be made to put on The Friends notice board in school office showing totals raised and what the money will buy. Slips (10 each) to be made to give to children so they can hand to friends and family

Action Point – NT to add to website

It was discussed about buying pedometers for KS1 and Reception so as they have a way of tracking if they choose (KS2 have the mini Garmins).

CH requested vote for money to be spent, all attendees voted unanimous YES for pedometers.

Action Point – CS to research and order 50(?) pedometers

Action Point – cash donation point to be setup at the school office with record sheet and receipt book.

4. Valentines Bake Sale

To be held the Friday before half term (10th February) from 3pm.

All bakes must be nut free and there will be GF and DF options available too.

Each cake 50p an item, cash and card accepted (minimum card spend £1)

Second hand uniform rail

Action Point – liaise with the school to see if all children can come out of one entrance to increase footfall.

Action Point – posters and socials for advertising. Ask for donations from parent/carers.

Action Point – ensure we have enough plates/napkins.

Action Point – Liaise with shop to see if can sell leftovers in square? Remaining bakes to be donated to the lands trust for their work party the following morning.

5. Easter After School Event

To be held Friday before easter break (Friday 31st March)

Bake sale - all bakes must be nut free and there will be GF and DF options available too.

Each cake 50p an item, cash and card accepted (minimum card spend £1)

Easter egg hunt/trail around the school playingfield with prizes.

Second hand uniform rail

Local artist Stephanie is designing a village tea towel which will be on sale with some proceeds going towards The Friends. She is also liaising with Liam about working with the children about redesigning and paining the ‘graffiti welcome’ sign as it does not fit within the ethos of the school. This could be unveiled at the event for parents to see. Pupils' artwork to be displayed outside for parents to view as a show?

Action Point – Obtain quotes for the pricing of wood/supplies and waterproofing equipment for the new welcome board

6. Quiz Night

To be held at the school on a Friday evening. Potentially looking at 24th March (TBC, time TBC)

Bookings taken per table, max 6 persons per table. There will be a bar and snacks available. Price per table still to be confirmed. Liam to be the Quiz Master.

Action Point – GW to liaise with Liam how may tables can be fitted in the hall

7. National Science Week (10-19 March)

Action Point - GW to liaise with Liam to discuss whether the teachers would like a school event where a company come to do talks/presentations with a large finale for the whole school.

Action Point - CS to check funds to see what budget is available.

8. Kings Coronation

Mini street party afternoon tea similar to the jubilee celebrations. Looking to be held Friday 5th May during school hours.

Action Point – research grants available from the council for us as a charity.

9. School Summer Fete

Date – TBC

Free entry

This year we will have a raffle with a main prize. Tickets can be sold prior to the event.

Reduce number of stalls and have bigger availability on those that were successful last year – face painting, lucky dip, hook a duck, beanbag toss, inflatable slide.

Bar will be available, food/snacks to be decided.

Action Point – Liaise with companies and actively ask for donations.

10. AOB

Bewilderwood – when do we want to book this for?

Devise a paper calendar that can be sent home with all children with Friends and school dates on for ease for parents.

CH to screen shot how to access class blogs on the website and add to Facebook.
